International Baccalaureate (IB)
The International Baccalaureate is a non-profit educational foundation. It was founded in 1968 with a mission to create rounded, inquisitive and knowledgeable students, in keeping with the IB learner profile, through its four programmes: Primary, Middle, Diploma and Careers-Related. The IB curriculum is continually developing and makes an effort to include schools in this process. The IB is now present in many countries throughout the world but all schools offering any IB courses have to be approved, to maintain the high standard of teaching and assessment associated with the IB. The programme may be taken in four parts from the age of three to nineteen however the courses are not requirements of each other and it is perfectly possible to take only one or two of the four if desired.
